Therapy Tarik offers
Psychosynthesis Counselling
Psychosynthesis is the process of synthesising and re- integrating those lost parts of ourselves—not only the painful facets of our past, but also the potential of who we could become. It was created by Roberto Assagioli, an Italian psychiatrist and contemporary of Freud and Jung. Psychosynthesis is an eclectic system that draws upon Psychodynamic tools, Gestalt and yogic techniques to help clients uncover their most authentic sense of being. At the heart of its work, is the importance of building a strong therapeutic relationship where vulnerability can be expressed and deeper wounds can be addressed.
Gestalt
Gestalt therapy is a humanistic, client-centred approach developed by Fritz and Laura Perls that emphasizes personal responsibility, present-moment awareness ("here and now"), and the holistic integration of mind, body, and emotions. It focuses on increasing self-awareness of current feelings and behaviours to help clients break through "unfinished business" and blocks.
Key aspects of Gestalt therapy include:
The Here and Now: Focusing on what is happening in the current session rather than dwelling on past events.
Holistic Approach: Treating the individual as a whole system of mind, body, and emotions, often paying close attention to body language and physical sensations.
Paradoxical Theory of Change: True change occurs when clients fully accept who they are in the moment, rather than trying to force themselves to be different.
Awareness and Responsibility: The goal is to help clients become aware of how they think, feel, and act, allowing them to take responsibility for their own lives.
Therapeutic Relationship: The therapist acts as an authentic guide, using dialogue and experimentation (e.g., the "empty chair" technique) to explore behaviours in a safe environment.
Astrological Counselling
Astrological counselling combines traditional natal chart interpretation with therapeutic techniques to promote self-awareness, personal growth, and psychological healing. It uses the birth chart as a symbolic map to explore life patterns, timing of events, and behavioural cycles, empowering clients to gain insight and make conscious choices regarding their life path.
Key aspects of astrological counselling include:
Purpose: It aims to help individuals understand themselves, recognize recurring behavioural patterns, and navigate challenging life events.
Methodology: Astrologers interpret the natal chart (positions of planets at birth) and current celestial movements (transits/progressions) to provide insight into personality and timing.
Client-Centred Approach: Rather than just predictive, modern practitioners focus on a dialogue where the client's experiences are explored alongside the symbolic archetypes of the chart.
Therapeutic Value: It aids in self-acceptance and provides comfort during uncertain times, often helping clients find meaning, similar to psychological counselling.
Applications: It can be used for deep, long-term personal transformation (psychotherapeutic astrology) or to address specific, immediate problems.
Short term Therapy
Short-term therapy (or brief therapy) is a structured, goal-oriented approach focusing on resolving specific issues within 6–20 sessions. It emphasizes present-day behaviours and solutions over deep, historical analysis.
Advantages:
Efficiency: Faster results and lower costs compared to long-term therapy.
Focus: Clear, achievable goals that provide structure.
Empowerment: Encourages clients to build on their existing strengths.
Limitations:
Complexity: May not be suitable for deep-rooted, chronic, or severe mental health conditions.
Time: The condensed nature can feel rushed for some individuals.
